Happy New Year! And Happy Anniversary to us! This year we celebrate 20 years of women making a difference in our community. Founded in 2004 by Kelly Hutchinson, Impact San Antonio began when she and a group of 25 San Antonio women were inspired by the model of the “power of women working together to do big things…and have a long-term impact.”
Since its founding, the members of Impact San Antonio have been working to improve the lives of people living and working in our community. The results have been astonishing. Since awarding our first grant of $25,000 to the ARC of San Antonio, Impact San Antonio has grown to regularly award High Impact Grants of $100,000 in all of our five focus areas.
A recent example is a 2022 High Impact Grant, which funded the renovation of the gym floor, backstops, and wall padding at the Calderon Boys & Girls Club. The Calderon Clubhouse is used by hundreds of school-aged children in the heart of the West Side of San Antonio. The gym is an essential component of the afternoon program for children of working parents. As a result of our grant, the Clubhouse is a much safer and more sustainable place for children who come for youth enrichment and development.
At last count, we have provided more than $5.9 million in grants to more than 120 area nonprofits. You can see our “impact” on our website.

I am honored to take on the role of president, especially in this 20th anniversary year. I’ve been a member of Impact San Antonio since 2017 and a board member (co-chair of the Marketing & Communications Committee) since 2018. I want to thank Angelle St. Germain for her leadership as president these past two years. It has been a privilege to work alongside her and the other amazing leaders of this organization.
I am excited for the promise that 2024 holds for Impact San Antonio and look forward to what we can accomplish together.
