What’s something fun or surprising about you that other members might not know?
I have done stand-up comedy five times and am considering a sixth performance. 😁. I also only pretend to be an extrovert.
What do you enjoy doing outside of work and volunteering?
Running and reading – I could run for days and have a 100-mile race planned next year. I love telling stories and reading stories about others. I sometimes have a book I’m reading, plus one on my Kindle, and an audiobook… going all at once!
What inspired you to join Impact San Antonio?
I’ve known about Impact SA for a long time. I have been on a board that benefited greatly from a grant from Impact SA and so when I saw an email come in this year, I wondered why I hadn’t become part of this incredible group sooner. It’s so fun to see the profound difference we can make together. A single $1,000 is meaningful, but when members pool their resources, the collective impact is extraordinary.
How did you first hear about the organization?
Impact San Antonio was frequently mentioned in many of the community groups I’ve been part of. I had an “aha moment” when I saw an email come through a few months back that made me question, “why haven’t I done this sooner?” II may be late to the party, but I’m grateful to be here now.
What part of Impact SA’s mission resonates with you most?
I’m always moved when someone says, “I don’t have much, but I believe in this cause, and I want to give what I can.” Those small donations can add up to thousands. Collective giving can build a playground at a homeless shelter or provide software for a non-profit. I love seeing women come together to build up our community.
Was there a particular event or conversation that motivated you to become a member?
As a board member of the Great Springs project, I watched the amount of diligence that the members of Impact SA took while investigating where best to invest the funds of the members. It was that moment that came to mind when I saw the email in my inbox that captured me because I knew these funds would be invested wisely and make the biggest impact possible for the area we live in.
What kind of community or connections are you hoping to build through Impact SA?
I’m someone who likes to contribute wherever there is a need. If there is a need for me to be involved in some form or facet, I will gladly help. I’m excited to help wherever I can!
Are there specific issues or nonprofit areas you’re passionate about?
I like being involved in initiatives that can change trajectories for the better. So, if we can help kids and offer them more positive outcomes for the future, I am all in. I also enjoy parks and green spaces for the future of San Antonio. I think it promotes San Antonio an even better place to live.
What would you say to someone considering joining Impact San Antonio?
Giving $1,000 individually to organizations we care about can make a difference. Together, we can accomplish something truly meaningful—and I hope others will join us!
