Yvonne Grothues

Yvonne is a San Antonio girl, born and raised. She was recruited to join Impact SA in 2017, her first full year of empty-nesting. It was perfect timing as she previously did most of her volunteering through her daughter’s schools. Impact has given her the ability to discover a new volunteer path. She has served as a member of the Environment, Recreation & Preservation Grant Review committee, with 2 years as co-chair, and as a liaison for a High Impact Grant recipient. She then served as vice-president of operations before accepting the position of president of the board of directors.

She was a member of the Incarnate Word High School Alumnae Advisory Board for many years, serving in several capacities, including President. While her daughter attended IWHS, she was active all four years in the PTO, with three years as co-chair of the Teacher Appreciation Committee. She currently volunteers for the SA Hope Center’s food pantry as well as on their Better Together luncheon committee. Yvonne is also a member of the Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church’s Prison Correspondence Ministry.

She received her BA in English-Communication Arts from St. Mary’s University. More importantly, it is where she met her husband of 26 years, Tom Grothues. They have a 23 year old daughter, Caroline. Yvonne enjoys traveling (especially to visit Caroline in California), reading, attending Spurs and Dallas Cowboys games, and snuggling with her two cats, Moe and Chloe.
