Focus Area: Family

High Impact Grant

Grant Impact:

NVOP will restore a fully operational kitchen and dining area at the iconic LuLu’s Bakery & Café, a San Antonio landmark that closed during the COVID-19 pandemic and is located adjacent to NVOP’s Veteran Dorms. Currently, NVOP bears the cost and logistical challenges of preparing and transporting three daily meals from an off-site location. Bringing meal preparation in-house will result in substantial savings in both cost and time, allowing us to reallocate resources as necessary to meet other critical needs of our veterans. The dining space will also host life-skills workshops, mental health support, employment events, health screenings, benefits navigation, and other enriching activities. Impact San Antonio’s investment will breathe new life into a space that does far more than serve meals—it will nourish hope, dignity, and belonging.
