Co-Chair, Volunteers

Sheryl Bierstedt

I was introduced to Impact SA by a dear friend who said, “You need to join Impact SA – you will love this organization! It is run by smart, fun and generous women, and it is doing great things for San Antonio.” That friend was right! I have been a member for eight years and a Grant Reviewer for all focus areas (plus 3 repeats)

Sheryl is a native Texan, born and raised in the farming and ranching community of Cuero. She completed her bachelor’s degree at SWTSU and master’s degree at NTSU. Though a small-town girl at heart, she has called San Antonio home for 42 years.

Her early career as a government contractor required frequent travel to Air Force bases across the U.S. to conduct and publish performance measurement research. While that was a rich and rewarding experience, changes in Department of Defense priorities led Sheryl to seek opportunities in the corporate world. She spent the majority of her career in management training design and delivery, leadership assessment and development, and HR project management, with roles of increasing responsibility at La Quinta, H.E.B and USAA.

Sheryl retired in 2017 and now relishes having time to spend with family and friends, gardening (at home and in her church’s community garden), and to read for fun.

Sheryl and her husband, Dan, have two beautiful daughters and eight energetic and busy grandchildren. Each summer, the grands come together in San Antonio for “cousin camp,” which ultimately results in happy memories for all…and very tired grandparents!
