After attending the 2022 Grant Award Night, Karen knew she wanted to be a part of Impact San Antonio. She began her involvement by serving on the Education Grant Review Team and acting as a liaison for SA Youth. Her commitment continued the following year with the Health and Wellness Grant Review Team, and she is now delighted and honored to serve on the Impact SA Board of Directors.
Karen brings extensive professional experience, having retired from USAA after 23 years of service. Her tenure there included managing teams and projects in marketing, social media, strategy and innovation. Earlier in her career, while living near Lake Tahoe, she established and managed the marketing department for a start-up firm.
Karen is a proud alumna of the University of Houston, where she earned a BA in Marketing and a MA in Future Studies.
In this chapter of life, Karen is focused on two passions: giving back to her community through philanthropy and helping women reach their fitness goals. She is involved in a number of volunteer efforts, and she teaches at Club Pilates. She also teaches private Pilates lessons from her home studio.
Karen and her husband have been married for 25 years and share two adult daughters. When she is not teaching or volunteering, Karen enjoys traveling and engaging in outdoor activities, particularly hiking, mountain biking and snow skiing.
