I joined Impact SA in 2022 after attending a Happy Hour event with a friend, meeting a lot of impressive women and learning of the great work Impact SA does. I loved the idea that all my contribution would go directly to grants, which would make a significant difference to a nonprofit in our city.
Margaret Wortham was born in Manhattan, Kansas, grew up in the Dallas – Ft. Worth area, and moved to the San Antonio area as soon as she was able. I started out at Trinity University and graduated from the University of Texas at San Antonio with a BBA in Accounting, becoming a CPA and joining a major accounting firm.
Her career has spanned working as an accountant– Public and Private Accounting, with a primary focus in Auditing, Not for Profits and Fractional Accounting. She was in Education for 21 years working with young children teaching them “reading, riting, and rithmetic”, along with culture, the arts, and hopefully a love for learning. But her greatest career has been as a mother to my two beautiful and intelligent children, who she “believes are going out and making a difference in their world.
Active in the community, Margaret has also served on the boards of several nonprofits, including Seton Home, La Vernia Shoestring Productions and Ransomed Life; and is currently training to be a docent at the San Antonio Museum of Art. With Impact SA, she has served for three years as a Grant Reviewer, two of those years as a Co-Chair and she says she “looks forward to serving as a Laison in this coming year.”
