As I reflect on this challenging year filled with health scares, financial disruption and political discord, I come back to what we all share, our humanity, which is the greatest driver bringing us together.
While we may disagree on the what and the how of addressing our problems and resolving our differences, there truly is common ground to be found as human beings supporting one another.
Many in our community have seen their lives severely interrupted. This year, and for the last 16 years of our existence, the women of Impact San Antonio have stepped up to be part of the solution.
As we look forward to the new year, with multiple vaccines on the horizon and the promise of life slowly returning to some semblance of normal, there will still be many who need help to get through the day and to rebuild their lives.
One of Impact SA’s priorities is to deepen our connections in the community so we fully understand the issues. We are doing that by reaching out to local officials in our service area and participating in solutions-focused events, like DreamWeek. The knowledge and insight we gain will help us better evaluate the outstanding grant proposals we receive.
As a significant funder of grants for local nonprofits, it’s important to us that the nonprofit community knows we’re here as an enduring resource. It’s also important to us to spread the word about what we do and how we do it. The more of us who come together, the bigger the impact we can make.
During this holiday season, as we connect with our friends and family, let’s remind ourselves of the power of our shared humanity and how good it feels to help one another in times of trouble, as well as to share the joy.
