Impact San Antonio’s membership often extends across families. We have several members who are sisters and other relations across generations. Kate Dunnican is one of our members introduced to Impact SA by her mother. Learn more about Kate and why she is impressed with Impact San Antonio’s grant review process.
When and how did you first hear about Impact San Antonio?
I started hearing about Impact when my mom (Charlotte McKinney) became a member. She was impressed and excited and talked me into coming to check it out.
When and why did you join?
I joined two years ago after coming to a Grant Award Night with my mom. I loved seeing the immediate and focused benefits Impact was having on the community and wanted to get involved too. It’s also a lot of fun to meet and hang out with other women who also want to make a difference.
What impresses and inspires you about Impact SA?
I really like that Impact San Antonio members are so involved in how the funds are used. Our Grant Review Committees puts a lot of thought into their application selections, and we (the members) get all the information we need to feel like we’re making an informed decision when it comes time to vote on the finalists. It’s also really nice to see all our grant funds concentrated toward a few select issues, so we know our donations are really helping.
How are you involved with Impact SA? Are there any volunteer opportunities you’d consider in the future?
Right now I participate through voting and attending the events, I’m at a busy time in my life and don’t have space for much more. If my schedule opens up in the future, I could consider further involvement.
What do/did you do for a living?
I am a software engineer.
