Agency Update: Guardian House

Guardian House New Rendering
Guardian House New Rendering

Congratulations to Guardian House for completing their final Impact San Antonio outcome report in June 2024. When Guardian House received a 2019 High Impact Grant from Impact SA in 2019, their original focus was on repairing and upgrading their vintage home headquarters. Like many agencies, Guardian House faced new challenges responding to the Covid crisis and pivoting to support post-pandemic needs. When the agency decided their client interests would be best served in a new location, Guardian House worked with Impact SA to redirect grant funding. Some resources funded by the Impact SA grant included expanding bilingual counseling to reach a larger number of clients and implementing a parenting education course to educate parents on developing healthy stress and anger management skills. These tools will assist Guardian House to reach out to more families and reduce the occurrence of family violence, child abuse and neglect.

Guardian House is in the process of making a major, exciting move to their new facility in August.

“Our experience with Impact San Antonio has been nothing short of amazing. In addition to addressing urgent capital improvement needs, Impact SA’s gift has been monumental in helping Guardian House expand its bilingual counseling program and secure much needed therapeutic tools. What we have found most rewarding has been the impact of our relationship with Impact SA and our liaisons (Holly Ward and Liz Fox). These relationships have been so inspiring; they have helped us to identify many strengths within our organization and have assisted us in expanding the reach of our mission. We are so grateful for the amazing women of Impact SA and our continued friendship. Thank you for all you do!” said Victoria Gonzalez, Guardian House Director of Development.
