Nancy Schweers joined Impact San Antonio six years ago to honor her mother. Recently, when the Impact San Antonio Board asked members to consider renewing their 2025 membership in 2024, Nancy heeded the call and renewed early. Get to know Nancy and the many roles she has served in before and after retirement.
When and how did you first hear about Impact San Antonio?
I first heard about Impact San Antonio at a Trinity University Women’s Club luncheon.
When and why did you join Impact SA?
I joined in 2018 to honor my mother who had recently died. She would have been so pleased to know about this unique way to be a “philanthropist.”
What impresses and inspires you about Impact SA?
I am impressed and inspired by the outstanding organization and administration, the generous and capable volunteerism, and the outstanding post-grant support and accountability of Impact San Antonio.
How have you been involved with Impact?
When I first joined, I was recently retired and thoroughly enjoyed serving on a Grant Review Committee. More recently I volunteered at the name tag table once, but circumstances have limited my time commitment. I so appreciate the flexibility of full membership in any case. Participating in person or online in the grant awards is always satisfying and enlightening. There is so much good happening in our community.
What did you do for a living?
Before retirement I was a middle school history classroom teacher, later a lactation consultant, advocate for the WIC program, and most recently a staff chaplain at Santa Rosa Hospital. I continue to serve as a docent at the McNay Art Museum.
