You may have seen Helene Segura on the video of our Kickoff event in January, where she gave one of the testimonials about our organization. Here, she tells us why she enjoys being a member of Impact San Antonio:
When and how did you first hear about Impact San Antonio?
I first heard about Impact SA around 15 years ago when a friend in Austin told me she had joined there. Around five years ago, I bumped into Beverley McClure at an event, and she invited me to attend an Impact San Antonio gathering. The rest is history.
Who or what inspired you to join?
In addition to Beverley’s passionate explanation of Impact SA’s mission and results, as well as those of the ladies I met at my first Impact SA event, I was inspired by the stories that grant recipients shared. We truly do make a difference when we pool our financial resources. Additionally, I love that every single penny that Impact SA awards to local nonprofits is tracked and accounted for. I know my contribution will be well-spent.
How long have you been a member of Impact SA?
I’m coming up on five years.
Have you participated on any committee or helped with events?
I volunteer at the check-in area at events. I enjoy saying hello to everyone who walks in.
What do you enjoy most about being a member?
What I enjoy most is that my contribution feels powerful. I couldn’t make this kind of change happen on my own. I also love the energy at Impact SA events. The room is packed with people who truly care about their community. You can’t find a better group than that.
What do you find most inspiring about Impact San Antonio?
What inspires me about Impact SA is the hope we bring to the community. There are so many people who are hurting in different ways and for different reasons. We help provide them with opportunities to get the assistance and support they need.
What do you do for a living?
I’m a time management fixer. I work with business owners and companies through seminars, keynotes and individual coaching to help employees streamline their days so they can have a life outside of work while generating the same or increased profit.
Your company, Living Order, is also an Impact SA sponsor. Why did you decide to become a sponsor?
I was looking for an original client gift that no one could be allergic to or one that would sit in the corner of an office collecting dust. I decided to use my gift budget for an Impact SA sponsorship. I emailed each client a note, letting them know what their “gift” was and including a link to Impact SA. No one complained — in fact, just the opposite! — so I plan to keep doing this.
