The protests of the last two weeks surrounding the tragic and needless deaths of George Floyd, Ahmaud Arbery and Breonna Taylor, and combined with the disproportionately heavy toll of COVID-19 on communities of color, highlight injustices related to poverty, race, and the lack of equitable treatment here in San Antonio and across the nation. Our society is crying out for action.
Impact San Antonio, through hundreds of generous women coming together, has been committed to providing grants that support those most vulnerable for the past 16 years.
We need women like you, with big hearts and generous spirits, to join us in finding solutions to reduce the glaring disparities in treatment of our citizens.
The deep gaps in social justice, compounded by the continuing effects of COVID-19 on our fellow citizens and nonprofit agencies, call for us as philanthropic women to take action. We know we can’t solve these issues alone, but we can play an essential role toward creating equity of treatment and support for those less fortunate.
We have hit a record this year for the number of nonprofits that have applied for grants, 140, which shows the magnitude of the need. It also reinforces the significance of Impact SA as a highly valued source of support.
So far, we have 310 memberships, representing 346 women and raising $310,000 in funding for grants.
Based on changes we’ve made to our grant guidelines this year where the amount of our high impact grants will be $75,000, we’re already positioned to award four grants! We thank all the women who have pledged to continue our most needed work already!
As you know, we have five focus areas, so at minimum, we want to award one High Impact Grant in each area. That means we are looking for at least 75 more memberships, which we hope to achieve over the next 10 weeks.
We are hoping to raise even more funding, which will enable us to contribute more fully to the recovery of our community.
Our deadline to join or renew has been extended to August 31st, but if you can, make today the day you commit to a better San Antonio and a brighter future for those in need.
