As incoming President of Impact San Antonio, I am grateful to each of you for your incredible spirit of giving and engagement over the past 15 years. I am inspired by your commitment to this amazing organization, which has propelled us to the highest level of giving in our history.
Let’s make this new year, and new decade, a great catalyst for us to set our intentions toward giving back to this community we love.
Through our involvement with Impact SA, we have a chance to learn about the many needs of our community, witness the fantastic energy and creativity of the nonprofits that are stepping up to meet those needs, and participate directly in identifying and supporting those grant proposals we believe will deliver the most impact.
It’s also an opportunity for each of us to contribute to something much bigger than any of us can individually. We aspire to make a difference across five key pillars of a strong community: Arts & Culture; Environment, Recreation and Preservation; Education; Family and Health & Wellness. And we experience the joy and satisfaction of doing it together with other generous and caring women.
What a great year 2019 was for Impact SA! Through your generosity, we had the largest grant pool ever awarded – $575,000. We had the highest number of memberships – 538 – representing 738 women. And we reached more than $3.7 million in cumulative giving since 2004.
As we build on these accomplishments, I am energized about all the good we can do together in 2020. Here’s what a successful year will look like:
- More than 500 women join or renew their memberships so we can again award five $100,000 grants, one in each of our five focus areas, to enable transformative results
- Grant recipients share their compelling successes about the impact of members’ contributions on the quality of life of our fellow citizens
- Members build new and lasting friendships based on our shared purpose of helping our community
- I get to meet many more of our members and hear the stories of your experiences with Impact SA.
I hope to see you at Boot Scootin’ Kickoff, our first membership event of 2020, where you’ll witness directly the magic of Impact SA. Mark your calendar for Monday, January 27, at the Whitley Theological Center from 6:00 to 8:30 p.m. And bring along your like-minded friends. I guarantee you will be inspired and entertained!
