I remember the feeling of turning 20 – no longer a teen and excited to be on the threshold of adult life.  Impact San Antonio turned 20 this year with the same exuberance about the future of our giving circle and its ability to cultivate and grow a more vibrant community. During this anniversary year, we have lots to celebrate, not the least of which is raising a grant pool of more than $500,000 for the seventh year in a row.

Over the next few months, we will host several showcase events that celebrate our 20 years of women making a difference. At Celebration on September 21, we will focus on our steadfast members, who rejoin each year at a remarkable retention rate of 80 percent. We couldn’t have awarded more than $5.9 million in substantial grants to over 120 nonprofit projects since our founding without their devotion.

We will also lift up the many exceptional, partner nonprofit agencies helping so many in our community. On August 21, we hosted an Impact in Action event, to debut the Carver Community Cultural Center’s mobile arts lab made possible by a 2021 High Impact Grant.

The culmination of each grant cycle brings to life what can be achieved when we all come together, with generous hearts, around a shared purpose of making a significant difference in our community. Grant Award Night, this year on October 28 in the UIW Skyroom, is where this magic happens, as our membership selects which nonprofit agencies will receive a $100,000 High Impact Grant.

Impact San Antonio has big dreams as we celebrate 20 years of women connecting, empowering, and transforming our community. We are inspired by our past accomplishments and hopeful for the community impact in the future.

Yours in service,

Sharon Jones Schweitzer

President
