Our annual Grant Award Night on Oct. 28 was a 20th anniversary-size success! The University of Incarnate Word’s Rosenberg Skyroom, with its beautiful view of the downtown skyline, was an apt setting as hundreds of Impact SA members and guests gathered as we awarded more than $530,000 in grants to worthy nonprofits from across the greater San Antonio area.
This was the first time I experienced Grant Award Night from the stage, and along with President-Elect Yvonne Grothues, presented the “BIG” checks to our High Impact Grant recipients. The agencies excitement and gratitude were palpable. If you had any doubt that our collective giving and our $100,000 grants make a difference in our community, you only had to hear the joyful responses from the representatives of the five nonprofits who came to the stage that night.
By the conclusion of Grant Award Night, Impact San Antonio had awarded over $6.4 million in grants since our founding in 2004. That’s 130 grants to 90 organizations. Now that’s the power of working together!
In recognition of the tremendous impact we’ve had on the community, Impact SA was recognized by both the City of San Antonio and Bexar County on our 20th anniversary with special proclamations. I shared the County’s proclamation during the Grant Award Night program that included one of Rose Mary Fry’s (founding member and former president five times over) favorite sayings about Impact San Antonio: “When women come together, they can do anything!”
