I just returned from an awe-inducing trip to South Africa and am having a difficult time getting back into my Impact world. All I want to do is sit and daydream about the breathtaking experience that was South Africa.
We had an amazing tour director who used daily inspirational quotes throughout the trip when preparing us for what we were to experience next. One that really caught me was something like, “Life begins at the outer perimeter of your comfort zone.” I never thought about it that way before, but I believe I am doing just that in this president’s role. I would venture to say there are some other board members feeling the same way. I invite you to live a bit on the edge of your comfort zone by considering a board role for 2026. We are in great need of people to fill roles in our Agencies and Applications, Membership and Marketing/Communications areas, as well as VP-Operations and Secretary roles. We absolutely cannot run this organization without members who are willing to give a lot of themselves. If you are unsure what you could offer, please reach out to any board member. We can talk you through the different roles and listen to your wants and needs. Truly, I had very little experience that would have made any sense for me to be president, but here I am! Is it a lot of work? Yes. Is it often inspiring? Also, yes. We are very willing to work within your life’s parameters wherever we can. Some roles require daytime, business hours availability, but others do not. Come live on the edge of your comfort zone with us!
The summers always go faster when I’m anticipating our grant reviewers’ selections of this year’s finalists. As I write this, they are in the home stretch of site visits and final decision meetings. Keep an eye out for our announcement of finalists in early September.
I am also pleased to announce that our very own VP of Membership, Kasandra Vitacca-Mitchell will be the plenary speaker on the opening night of PowerUP! Texas, the Philanos National Conference in Austin, February 8-10, 2026! Impact San Antonio is an official Co-Host of the conference. We are looking forward to collaborating with other giving circles to accelerate philanthropy through women’s collective giving. We’ll have more info soon on how you can attend the conference.
Happy end of summer to you all!
Warm regards,
Yvonne Grothues, President, Impact San Antonio
