We’re excited to profile Afarin Edwards. Afarin joined Impact San Antonio in 2024 after attending Grant Award Night with long-time member and sponsor, Lora Watts (The UPS Store).
How did you first hear about Impact San Antonio? And why did you join?
I had heard about Impact from Lora Watts (she has been an Impact member for over 15 years). When I attended the September “Celebration” event as Lora’s guest and saw how magical collective giving was, it put everything into perspective.
I joined right after the 2024 Grand Awards Night. I cannot put into words how inspiring that event was for me. I cried a lot and just wanted to be part of this amazing transformational giving. When you know that your dollar can make an impact, there is no question about making the decision to become a member.
What impresses and/or inspires you about Impact San Antonio?
Everybody is so kind and so supportive. Not only is everyone there to make a difference in the community, but they are also creating a community within the organization with strong women.
Are you planning to get involved in any committees, or are you interested in volunteering?
I am currently volunteering on the membership committee. Getting involved in the organization is another way to give back. Also, you get to meet all the wonderful women in the organization.
What do you do for a living?
I operate The UPS Store at Leon Springs. We are a proud sponsor for Impact San Antonio as well. I print most of the marketing materials from signs to event name tags for the organization.
Is there anything else you would like to add?
My mission now is to spread the word about Impact San Antonio. How? Just bring a couple of friends with you to each event and have them experience the impact.
