As I wrap up my first year as President I’m looking back with both pride and optimism.
Our board of directors is truly a powerhouse team of women! They have taught me much about leadership, organization, accounting, time-management, and tenacity. Honestly, they should be called “Staff Who Don’t Get Paid” but that doesn’t roll off the tongue like “board of directors”. Knowing women like this are so committed to our community gives me real hope for the future.
Please join me in thanking the following women rolling off the board this year (listed alphabetically): Shirley Bennett, Karla Broadus, Leslie Cardinal, Donna Hidalgo, Laurie Kaplan, Carol Lee, Jennifer Rosenblatt, Sharon Jones-Schweitzer, Nancy Strehlow, and Rose Urbanczyk. Together, they have dedicated a remarkable 32 years of service to the success of Impact San Antonio! I wish each of them much joy in whatever comes next. It has been an honor to work alongside them.
In October, shortly after Grant Award Night, I had the privilege of representing Impact San Antonio at the Impact 100 Global Conference in Florida. I am committed to utilizing the resources available to us through Impact 100 more fully than ever before! I connected with Impact women from all over the U.S. and exchanged ideas, best practices and attended many informative sessions. It was encouraging to hear them refer to Impact SA–now in our 21st year–as “one of the OG’s.” Being considered one of the originals amid many new chapters is empowering and speaks to the strength and longevity of women’s collective giving.
Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays to all of you, our cherished members. Impact SA’s contribution to the community is only possible because of you! Thank you for your membership this year, and here’s to a successful 2026!
