I remember the feeling of turning 20 – no longer a teen and excited to be on the threshold of adult life.  Impact San Antonio turned 20 this year with the same exuberance about the future of our giving circle and its ability to cultivate and grow a more vibrant community. During this anniversary year, we have lots to celebrate, not the least of which is raising a grant pool of more than $500,000 for the seventh year in a row.

President’s Message: Breaking the Silence Surrounding Domestic Violence

Impact San Antonio has a well-earned reputation as a substantial funder that awards High Impact Grants to area nonprofits with the aim of transforming lives. We also provide opportunities for our members and the community to learn more about the critical issues that affect the Greater San Antonio community, such as breaking the silence surrounding domestic violence. On July 16th, we hosted a panel discussion with key leaders working to reduce the growth of domestic violence.

Guardian House New Rendering

Agency Update: Guardian House

Congratulations to Guardian House for completing their final Impact San Antonio outcome report in June 2024. When Guardian House received a 2019 High Impact Grant from Impact SA in 2019, their original focus was on repairing and upgrading their vintage home headquarters. Like many agencies, Guardian House faced new challenges responding to the Covid crisis and pivoting to support post-pandemic needs. When the agency decided their client interests would be best served in a new location, Guardian House worked with Impact SA to redirect grant funding. Some resources funded by the Impact SA grant included expanding bilingual counseling to reach a larger number of clients and implementing a parenting education course to educate parents on developing healthy stress and anger management skills. These tools will assist Guardian House to reach out to more families and reduce the occurrence of family violence, child abuse and neglect.
