Agency Update: Girl Scouts of Southwest Texas

Located at the Sally Cheever Girl Scout Leadership Center is the Backyard, a four-acre green space with limitless potential. As a 2024 Impact San Antonio Support Grant recipient, their vision is to develop the Backyard into a multi-purpose space for use by Girl Scouts and the greater San Antonio community.

Impact San Antonio Named Outstanding Foundation of the Year

Impact San Antonio has been named the 2025 Outstanding Foundation by the Association of Fundraising Professionals (AFP) San Antonio Chapter during their annual Philanthropy Day event on February 14, 2025. Our nomination was made by Barbara Goldman, CEO of TeamABILITY, the recipient of a 2021 High Impact Grant. “Impact San Antonio’s collective giving impacts not only the missions of its grant recipients but also its members and our community,” said Goldman.

President’s Message: Giving Makes us Happy!

Most of us recognize February as the month of Valentine’s Day. Maybe you know it as Black History Month, or possibly you know it as American Heart Month? February is also home to Feed the Birds Day, International Book Giving Day, Random Acts of Kindness Day, and National Love Your Pet Day, among many others. President’s Message: It’s going to be a great year. I can already feel it. Can you?

Yes, I’m an optimist and since I’m new to the president role, I should tell you a little more about myself.  I am a born and raised San Antonian and I absolutely LOVE my hometown. I am a graduate of Incarnate Word High School and St. Mary’s University. I briefly lived and worked in Dallas, but only because my then-boyfriend/now-husband said he wouldn’t marry me unless I lived away from home first. (He’s a smart man.)

Brackenridge Park Conservancy High Impact Grant Update

In 2021, the Brackenridge Park Conservancy was awarded a $100,000 High Impact Grant for their San Antonio Water Works Pump House #1 project. The grant was initially intended to replace the roof of Pump House #1, marking the first step toward a larger goal of renovating the entire structure and its surrounding area. In May 2023, the Impact SA Board approved an extension through December 2024 that revised the project scope to focus on renovating the Lambert Beach Grand Staircase. This staircase was part of Phase One of the overall project and was considered achievable within a shorter timeframe. However, ongoing lawsuits against the City of San Antonio regarding removal of trees have prevented the Brackenridge Park Conservancy from proceeding.
