Jane Watson

Member/sponsor profile: Jane Watson

Jane Watson wasted no time in joining Impact San Antonio when she attended Grant Award Night last fall. And she quickly became a sponsor, too! Here’s what she thinks of Impact SA and the work we do. When and how did you first hear about Impact San Antonio? What prompted you to join? I had heard of Impact San Antonio from several people over the years, then my friend (Impact SA member) Milby Hartwell invited me to Grant Award Night last October. What prompted you to join? What impresses you about Impact SA? I was very impressed with several things: the women I know who were already involved, the grant proposal process, the efficiency of the presentation that gave us all a brief overview of the finalists, and the award winners that were named in such a reasonable amount of time. I joined on the spot for all those reasons. Why did you decide to become a sponsor this year? I’ve been in a woman-owned business for most of my professional life, and I value the importance of women supporting each other. Have you taken on any volunteer roles, and would you like to do so in the future? I have not become involved in a volunteer role yet, but I plan to do so in the coming year. That’s always the best way to get to know others in a big group. Tell us about your business, Audicles Hearing Services.  Audicles Hearing Services has been providing hearing healthcare to San Antonio since 1944. There have only been four owners in all that time, including myself. We provide hearing testing, hearing aid fitting and rehabilitation for all ages. We have always specialized in pediatrics, but most of our clientele is age 50-plus. I started as staff audiologist in 1982, bought into the business and later became sole owner. In 2019, I sold the business to Dr. Tracy Board, my colleague of 18 years.  I now work two and a half days a week and still love it. Is there anything else you would like to add? After completing the Masters Leadership Program San Antonio, I recently joined the board of First Tee San Antonio and have loved the combined emphasis of golf and kids. I try to play at least two or three times a month and enjoy everything about being outside with friends.
